
About the Role
Job Summary:Â The Feed & Maintenance Manager is responsible for managing all feeding activities on the robotic dairy, ensuring cows receive consistent, high-quality nutrition to support herd health and milk production. This role requires attention to detail, comfort with technology, and the ability to efficiently operate and maintain feeding equipment, follow preventative maintenance schedules for all equipment, machinery, and dairy robots, and troubleshoot and repair breakdowns as they arise.Â
Key Responsibilities:
·       Deliver accurately mixed feed to cows in a timely manner.Â
·       Determine dry matter of feed and adjust rations as needed.
·       Communicate with herd manager regarding feed performance and robot data.
·       Maintain accurate feed records and scorecard
·       Track feed inventory, order supplies, and manage storage.
·       Monitor feed push-up schedule and equipment to ensure feed availability.
·       Maintain robots according to established protocols.
·       Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair feeding equipment, alley scraper systems, piston pump, screw press and pumps, and manure auger, notifying site manager of malfunctions.
·       Maintain stalls, property, grounds, and driveway in all seasons.
·       Implement fly control at the facility, cattle barn, and manure pit.
·       Assist herd manager and provide relief coverage when needed.
Requirements
Qualifications:
·       Experience in dairy feeding or livestock care preferred
·       Ability to operate and maintain feed mixing/delivery equipment
·       Comfortable working with robotic systems and technology
·       Ability to problem-solve and think critically
·       Strong attention to detail and organization skills
·       Ability to lift 50 pounds or more
·       Willingness to work nights and weekends
·       Commitment to safety for people, animals, chemicals, and equipment
·       Team player with excellent communication skills; English preferred
Compensation
Schedule/Pay: This is a full-time position paying $20+/hr dependent on experience and skill. Standard hours are Monday–Friday, 6:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m., with Saturday morning included. The role requires availability of 40+ hours per week based on dairy needs, with occasional on-call responsibilities for breakdowns or emergencies according to the on-call schedule.
