About the Role
The Feed Manager is responsible for managing all feeding activities on the robotic dairy, ensuring cows receive consistent, high-quality feed to support health and production. This role requires attention to detail, the ability to operate feeding equipment, and comfort with technology.
Key Responsibilities:
·       Deliver accurately mixed feed to cows in a timely manner.Â
·       Determine dry matter of feed and adjust rations as needed.
·       Communicate with herd manager regarding feed performance and robot data.
·       Maintain accurate feed records.
·       Track feed inventory, order supplies, and manage storage.
·       Monitor feed push-up schedule and equipment to ensure feed availability.
·       Maintain robots according to established protocols.
·       Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot feeding equipment, alley scraper systems, piston pump, screw press and pumps, and manure auger, notifying site manager of malfunctions.
·       Maintain stalls, property, grounds, and driveway in all seasons.
·       Implement fly control at the facility, cattle barn, and manure pit.
·       Assist herd manager and provide relief coverage when needed.
Schedule: This is a full-time, salary-based position. Standard hours are Monday–Friday, 6:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m., with every other weekend required (6:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.). Must be available for 40+ hours per week depending on dairy needs and on-call for breakdowns or emergencies.Â
Requirements
Experience in dairy feeding or livestock care preferred
Ability to operate and maintain feed mixing/delivery equipment
Comfortable working with robotic systems and technology
Attention to detail and organization skills
Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more
Willingness to work nights and weekends
Be punctual and manage time well
Observe general safety of people, animals, and equipment
Excellent time and project management skills
Good communication skills, English preferred
Ability to problem solve
Be trustworthy and respectful
Follow established policies and routines
Compensation
Starting pay is $40,000/yr
