Mechanic/Diesel Mechanic

About the Role

To inspect and repair vehicles to include tractors, semis, agricultural and construction equipment.


This is a full-time position, 40-60+ hours per week depending on seasonal needs. 


  • Inspect machines, engines, transmission, various components of equipment.

  • Able to perform simple preventative maintenance and repairs

  • Conduct repairs aiming for maximum reliability

  • Troubleshoot reported problems and resolve them in a timely manner

  • Use of company work order program

  • Perform thorough maintenance on machinery, equipment and systems

  • Ensure company equipment, materials, and the work site are maintained and kept in a safe working manner

  • Able to follow direction, yet work independently

Requirements

  • Be punctual and manage time well

  • Maintain all applicable licenses needed to perform job

  • Observe general safety of people, animals, and equipment

  • Willing to learn

  • Be a team player

  • Keep area clean

  • Be trustworthy and respectful

  • Follow established policies and routines

Compensation

  • Starting pay is $20+/hour

  • Housing is provided, if available

  • Uniforms provided upon completion of 3 months

  • Company contribution to medical insurance; employee paid vision and dental plans

  • Eligible for 401K participation upon completion of 6 months 

  • Eligible for group life insurance upon completion of 12 months

  • Eligible for vacation upon completion of 12 months

About Us

Farming Operation

  • Planting, Spraying, Silage Harvest, Manure Application

  • Crops include corn, alfalfa, grass hay, rye, wheat and soybeans

  • All crops are used in feed rations for cows

 

Chopping and Planting

  • May-July is spring harvest – rye and alfalfa

    • Plant corn for silage

    • Bale alfalfa and grass hay

  • August-November is fall harvest – corn silage

    • Fields drilled back to rye

    • Manure application

Cow Feed

  • Silage/Haylage

    • Feed is dumped onto ground piles

    • Packed tightly with large tractors

    • Covered with tarps to keep air and moisture out so it can ferment into feed

  • Alfalfa 1st cutting is swathed and chopped into haylage

    • 2nd cutting is baled into large square or round bales

    • Consecutive cuttings are swathed and baled every 24-30 days. 4-5 cuttings of alfalfa are typical through summer months

  • Prairie hay is swathed late summer and baled to be used as feed
